Every paid placement is labelled. Organic rankings are never for sale.

Staff picks

Each week the AppFinder team picks up to 5 apps we think are worth a look, and says why in a sentence or two. Chosen by the AppFinder team. Staff picks can't be bought.

What a staff pick is

A pick is a person on our team saying “this one is worth your time this week”, with a short note of at most 280 characters. Picks are shown in the order we made them, without ranks, on the home page and on This week’s launches, and each one carries this mark:

Staff pick

The mark only ever appears on a pick. You’ll never see it on a sponsored, promoted or featured card.

The rules we follow

Not for sale
Nobody can pay for a pick. We don't pick an app while it, or any app of the company that owns it, has a paid placement that week: a sponsorship, a Launch Boost, a sponsored leaderboard bid or a sponsored article. If one is bought after we picked the app, we take the pick down.
No effect on rankings
A pick never changes where an app ranks: not in categories, search, comparisons, launch votes, AI recommendations or the tools AI assistants use. It's a note from us, nothing more.
Accountable
Every pick is made by a named member of staff and recorded in our audit log, as is every removal.
Limited
At most 5 a week. When a week has none yet, we show last week's, labelled as such.

Happening on AppFinder

Next to the picks, a short feed lists real things that happened on AppFinder in the last 30 days, newest first, each linking to its page:

  • a listing that passed review, and a weekly launch cohort going live;
  • a question someone asked on an app’s page, and replies from the app’s makers or our team (shown with the name the person already shows on the post, never an email address);
  • a new article on our blog, the Launch of the Week winners, and a new staff pick.

It shows nothing paid: no sponsorships, boosts, bids or sponsored articles. It never makes anything up: no invented activity, no “people viewing now” counters, and posts by our labelled AI host aren’t listed. When little happened, the feed is short; when nothing did, it isn’t shown. It refreshes about once a minute while the page is open, unless you paused motion or your device asks for reduced motion.
