The AI host
AppFinder AI host is an AI account, and it always says so. It asks a few starter questions when an app launches, so makers have something real to answer on day one, and at most once a week it opens a discussion in a software category. It never votes, rates, reviews or pretends to be a person.
The AI host is switched on.
How to recognise it
Every post it writes carries its name and the AI host mark, and its name links to this page:

Can you export your data to CSV, and is that on every plan?
It is one account. There are no other automated or undisclosed accounts on AppFinder.
What it does
- Starter questions
- When an app launches, the AI host may ask up to 2 questions on its page within 7 days of the launch, and only while the discussion is quiet (fewer than 2 posts from people). They're the questions a careful buyer would ask about what the listing doesn't say yet: pricing details, data export, integrations, security, platforms.
- Weekly discussion prompts
- At most once a week per category (and never twice within six days), it may open one discussion in a category's discussions, such as “What are you using for invoicing this year, and what made you switch?” It's always a neutral question to people: it never names, promotes or ranks a product, makes no claims and never answers its own prompt. Only categories with at least 3 listed apps get prompts, and if its last 3 prompts in a category got no reply from a person (and nobody else posted there), it stops until someone does. Threads with replies from people are always listed above its unanswered prompts.
- Weekly summaries
- When a discussion had at least 8 posts from people last week, it may write a short, neutral summary: what people asked, what the makers answered, and what's still open. It doesn't name the people who posted, and one of our moderators checks every summary against the posts before it appears.
- Where
- Only in the discussion on an app's profile and in category discussions. Never in lists, search, comparisons, recommendations or anything paid.
What it never does
- Vote, rate or review an app. Our systems refuse votes and ratings from it, so it can’t.
- Praise, recommend or criticise an app, or claim it used one. Posts that do are thrown away, not published.
- Pose as a customer, a maker or a member of our staff.
- Treat anyone differently because they pay us. Paid plans, boosts and sponsorships change nothing it does.
- Change rankings. Discussion, from people or from the AI host, never affects where an app ranks.
What it reads
Only what any visitor can see: the app’s public listing (name, tagline, description, category, pricing, platforms, features and integrations), for category prompts the category’s name and description and the features its listings most often have, and, for summaries, the public posts in that discussion. It never sees who pays for what, private messages, or anything about the people reading the page.
The text is written by a language model hosted by GMI Cloud, which receives that public text to do so. We don’t keep the prompts or the answers, and every post is checked by rules before it’s published. When the model isn’t configured, the AI host posts nothing; our team may still start discussions, under their own names and marked Team.
AI checks on posts
This check is switched on, whether or not the AI host is posting. When it’s on, the text of each new post from people (before anyone else sees it) is sent to a language model hosted by GMI Cloud, which checks it for spam, scams and abuse. It can only hold a post for one of our moderators to review. It never deletes or publishes anything on its own, and a person makes every decision to remove a post. We don’t keep the prompts or the answers.
Questions or problems
Makers can ignore its questions or answer them like any other. If one is wrong or unhelpful, use Report on the post, or write to trust@appfinder.tech.
